Tip: Cable Connections

Speaker

The Speaker has two potential connections, Gig and the PJ™ (Practice Jack™). Gig is the obvious selection for usual gigs since it produces the full power. The PJ™, is substantially attenuated for playing screaming leads at conversational or acoustic guitar levels.

All Pritchard amps can drive external cabinets - Just plug your 4 Ohm cabinet into the Gig or Practice Jack™.

Pritchard amps can drive 8 ohm cabinets as well with a special connection. Use a stereo (TRS) plug and wire to the Tip and Sleeve only - ignore the Ring. The amplifier internal wiring then is set for 8 ohms.

Foot Switch

The Foot Switch jack is tip-ring-shield stereo style for the two foot switch selections. In Dagger these selections are two different boosts, Boost and Crunch. In Sword of Satori or Gold Estoc they are Boost and Channel. In Sultry Margaux they are B channel boost and C channel boost. The panel switches remain active when the foot switch is plugged in since they are all momentary.

Effects

The Effects jacks are Send and Reverb. The Send Jack produces a line level signal limited by light emitting diodes to about 1.5 volts peak or about +4 dB. The Return Jack is rather unique in that it can be used in three ways:
1. It can accept an effects return signal in the standard series form.
2. It can accept a parallel effects signal on the ring terminal.
3. It can work with a low impedance (25K) volume pedal with only a single jack cord.

EQ DI

The Equalized Direct is a speaker emulator output at a hot mike level on an XLR male connector. This output assumes that its use will not involve an instrument speaker as in PA or recording use.

AMP DI

The Amp Direct is a balanced / unbalanced line level output on a TRS stereo jack for use with a power amplifier driving instrument speakers. This is particularly useful for bass players who want both an artistic sound with great power.

Mic Input

The Mic input is for connecting a standard XLR mic cable to the amplifier input. This began as a second input for the second channel of Margaux and was kept for the other amplifiers in case they were used for harmonic and mike that has an XLR connection. This input can be optionally equipped with a mic transformer for isolation and more gain.
