The tone versatility
in Pritchard Amps allows each light weight amp to cover a broader range of applications
than ever possible with any other single amp - be it a guitar amp, a rock amp,
a jazz amp, a country amp, a blues amp, an acoustic amp, a harp amp, a steel
amp, or a violin amp. Unbelievable? We do it! Just imagine going from playing
acoustic and then with the turn of "Voice Knob" transition into jazz,
rock, vintage metal, country etc. Just check out the clips! It is a super tone
switch! Listen to our demo clips.
This tonal flexibility comes from three sources, the Voice Knob™, the
four different distortion characters, and the increased presence in boost mode.
Each amp contains one or more of the following Voice Knob™ configurations
depending on how many channels it has. The following voice impressions are like
literature - subject to other interpretations and influenced by playing styles.
The Voice Knob™ is truly a super tone control.
Pritchard
amps step far above modeling amps with great versatility laid on top of great
tone. These amps create the right harmonics to be rich, fat, full-bodied, and
warm. The the Pritchard Amps output stage adds life, sag, expansive harmonics,
and still more fat. Then the flexibility tops off its boutique tone. Pritchard
Amps are truly a unique combination of great tone and great versatility with
the power and harmonics to really cut through in an easy-to-carry package.

See "Settings".
Output
Stage Distortion
The
distortion character of the amps is the other facet of tone versatility. Pritchard
Amps have the following four types of thick, fat, touch-sensitive distortions.
Drive
Limited Distortion is like that great amp tone just before it fails,
and is available when in a “clean” mode with the Watts Knob™
is turned down. The usual voltage limitation is replaced by a limited output
current. The speaker impedance characteristic then gives the amplifier a different
tone.
Vintage
Distortion is the distortion character of vintage amplifiers, and
is used in the lesser dirty modes.
Saturated
Distortion is the distortion character of some classic amplifiers,
and is used only in the boosted dirty modes.
"High
Gain" Distortion is the modern boutique character and is found
in the Gold Estoc (previously Gold Sabre) and the Blood Dagger.
Boost
Mode Changes - More Versatility
The Boost Mode changes the increases the Presence effect in the output stage
and thereby making the Presence more distortion oriented.
The
two Presence effects times the potential combination of many different distortion
characters times the six different voices for each Voice Knob™ allow Pritchard
Amps to achieve a vast variety of different tonal characteristics per channel.
